Simple Solutions for Sticky and Slippery Floors

Sometimes the simplest suggestions are the best ... an amazing solution for dancing on any type of sticky floor.

How many times have you been to a dance club, social, or party where the floor didn't feel right? Too slippery or too sticky? We all have experienced this. It's a little easier when we are hanging out in our hometown. Usually we've been to the venue before, and know what to expect. But what about at a new venue? Or when you travel to another city or go to a salsa congress?

Let's face it: No shoe is made for all surfaces. This is an age-old problem for dancers.

Some dancers try to solve this problem by carrying around an extra pair of shoes. But this takes up lots of (valuable) space in a bag or suitcase, and doesn't always work.

There are probably many techniques that dancers use. But here is my favorite solution for any sort of less-than slippery surface, which is turning out to be a huge discovery ...

Salsaville DVDs may soon be available for sale via online download

Salsaville is considering making all of its titles available via online download.

Back in 1999, Salsaville released its first video, "Cool Moves Revealed" on VHS tape. Then starting in 2003, it made all of its titles available on DVD. Now, here in 2010, we are considering the move to making the titles available via online download.

This wasn't really practical before. But today, with high-speed internet connections, and super large hard drives, this option is making more and more sense.

However, this would not be like the downloads of many of the other services. We want to make available a full download of the original DVD for you. This would require a high-bandwidth connection, and could take a few hours to download each title. It's something best done when you can leave your computer for a while. Once you are done, you will have the original set of DVD files (the full VIDEO_TS folder) sitting on your hard drive of your computer! That's right, you will end up with the same exact, bit-for-bit, copy of the actual DVD disc. The only difference is that you won't have a physical copy of the disk, cover or case.

This service won't be for everybody. However, there are some advantages:

  • You won't have to wait for the DVDs to arrive in the mail. Downloading will be able to begin as soon as we verify your order. This can save a week (or in the case of salseros outside of the U.S. -- a couple of weeks) or more of waiting.
  • You won't have to pay any shipping charges, nor worry about any potential custom fees. (Custom fees for DVDs are extremely rare these days though.)
  • Although mail getting lost is in fact rare, it's one less thing that can go wrong.
  • We can offer you a small discount for purchase via download over the regular price of our DVDs.
  • The DVD won't take up any valuable shelf space.
Please do keep in mind, you would need the following:
  • A high-bandwidth connection to the internet.
  • Extra space on one of your hard drives (up 4GB per title).
Please email us if you're interested in purchasing our DVDs this way or have any general comments.
