TUESDAY NIGHT
6:30 - 7:30pm: Athletic and Dynamic Salsa
Cuban-style salsa has always included vigorous and athletic moves and movements for both male and female dancers. In this class we'll show you a wide variety of dynamic moves that will energize your salsa dancing, and we'll teach you how to execute these moves safely.
Level: Intermediate-Advanced
7:30 - 8:30pm: Salsa Musicality, Part I: Adding Rhythmic Accents to Salsa Footwork
In this class we’ll use musical examples, counts, and clapping exercises to explain a few of the most common patterns and accents in Salsa and Timba music. Then, we’ll physicalize these rhythms using practical, use-at-the-club changes in footwork (and body movement). This new rhythmic understanding will enhance your enjoyment of the music and invigorate your dancing, both in the rueda and with a partner.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT
6:30 - 7:30pm: 'On 2' Fundamentals (Intro to Son and Cha-cha-chá)
Salsa is just the latest in a long lineage of Cuban partner dances, including Son and Cha-cha-chá, both of which are traditionally danced 'On 2' (also called contratiempo). Just as the best bands include references to these older styles in their music, many of the best dancers incorporate elements of these older styles into their salsa dancing -- indeed, this is the reason why many people dance salsa 'On 2.' In this class, we'll teach the fundamental steps, body movement, and rhythm of Son and Cha-cha-chá.

7:30 - 8:30pm: Salsa Musicality, Part II: Switching between 'On 1' and 'On 2'
We think it's important to be able to dance on any beat and to be able to switch between them based on what's happening in the music. This class will emphasize how to use the clave – the rhythmic foundation of salsa and timba – as a guide to switching to and from dancing 'On 1' and 'On 2.' Using this rhythmic awareness, we'll show you practical partnering techniques that to enable you to fluidly and seamlessly switch between the 1 and the 2 within the same song.
