General notes about the video

Sometimes you will see the graphic on the screen, "switch to dancing on5." This happens in a move that involves a twist, dip, or drop, and then a pause. The dancers then resume dancing by taking the normal first step (MLfoot forward and WRfoot back) on the 5th beat of the music. So at this point they are dancing "on 5." This is no problem and is done on purpose. Just continue dancing like this. If you need to count, I would count it as "1" (MLfoot forward) to match the foot patterns for when dancing "on 1", even though it's the 5th beat of the music. The most important thing is for you to realize that this has occurred. (If you want to get back to dancing "on 1" you could do another one of these moves again.)

Sometimes I indicate on which beat a twist, dip or drop occurs in the music. Please note that the move (twist, dip or drop) can be used to hit an accent in the music. That is why I am showing on which beat it occurs -- so you can remember this, practice it, and eventually use it to hit accents in the music. Please note that the move usually does not have to match the music exactly, but if it occurs within one beat you will still probably get the effect and feeling of hitting the accent.

All of the moves are leadable and followable. Many of these moves were developed by just dancing with various partners of mine by just initially playing around and experimenting.
