August 2010: Level IV (Intermediate)

Week 1 Patterns:

Pattern 1:
1: XB:R-L,L-R
2: WRT:R-L,L-R, keeping R-L below L-R
3: Arm toss on 3, catching with M’s L hand crossed beneath M’s R hand, to WRT, led w/ R-L

oXB:WLT:R-L released to closed
M pulls w/ R-L on 5, then flicks it away from him to lead WLT

oXB:WLT:R-L to wrap
Same as above, but M doesn’t release R-L

Pattern 2:
1: oXB:WRT:R-L to wrap
2: XB:traveling 2WRT to W’s RT hammerlock; M mirrors W’s footwork on 1-3 (he steps back w/L on 1, & forward on 2 & 3 w/ R & L), then leads with his R shoulder, & right forearm so W steps ¼ R on 5.  M keeps R-L low to put W in RT hammerlock
3: XB:WLT, picking up L-R on 3

Week 2:

M can leave out steps. W keeps the time.

Exercise to practice this:

1. XB:WLT

2. oXB:WRT

All without guy ever taking a step. He stands in regular cross body lead position and stays there.

Pattern:
1: XB closed to open
2: oXB:WLT:R-L to closed; M pulls w/ R-L on 5, then flicks it away from him to lead WLT
3: XB closed to open
4: oXB:WRT:R-L to wrap
5: XB:travelling 2WRT to W's RT hammerlock; M mirrors W's footwork on 1-3 (he steps back w/L on 1, & forward on 2 & 3 w/ R & L), then leads with his R shoulder, & right forearm so W steps ¼ R on 5.  M keeps R-L low to put W in RT hammerlock
6: XB:WLT to unwind, picking up L-R on 3
7: oXB:WRT:R-L to neck wrap
8: XB:travelling 2WRT switching to L-R; M mirrors W's footwork on 1-3 (he steps back w/L on 1, & forward on 2 & 3 w/ R & L), then slides R-L down to W's upper arm, & leads with his R shoulder & right forearm so W steps ¼ R on 5.  M keeps R-L low to put W in RT hammerlock, but releases around 6, & picks up L-R
9: XB:WRT:MRT:L-R, hand change behind back to R-R
10: oXB:WRT:R-R to side by side
11: basic, taking L-L (M mirroring W's footwork)
12: XB:2WRT:R-R/L-L w/ hand slip
13: double hand toss to XB:WLT:L-L/R-R
14: XB:WRT:R-R/L-L
15: basic w/ simultaneous W's double Hcomb

Week 3:

Pattern
1: XB closed to open
2: oXB:WLT:R-L to closed; M pulls w/ R-L on 5, then flicks it away from him to lead WLT, & catch W’s back.
3: XB closed to open
4: oXB:WLT:R-L to neck wrap
5: W’s mambo jazz on 1-3, then XB:travelling 2WRT, all w/ R-L wrapped on W’s neck for 1-3, the R-L over her head for 5-7. So, on 1, rotate W to R so her L side points along slot, then on 3, rotate her L toward M to prep the 2WRT, then lead turn on 5-7
6: XB open to open
7: oXB:WLT:R-L to neck wrap
8: XB:WRT, M takes L-R & walks down slot w/ M & pivots ½ R on 7 so M is side by side w/ W w/ W to his L
9: Basket
10: W’s mambo jazz on 1-3, then XB:travelling 2WRT to hammerlock, all w/ R-L wrapped on W’s neck for 1-3, the R-L low to W’s RT hammerlock on 5-7. So, on 1, rotate W to R so her L side points along slot, then on 3, rotate her L toward M to prep the 2WRT, then lead turn on 5-7. Switch from R-L to L-L on 7.
11. XB:WLT to sweetheart, taking W’s L shoulder w/ M’s R hand on 5, then catching it again on 7 for the sweetheart
12: Sweetheart turn to L, then WRT to unwind
13: M’s L-L hcomb to XB to closed
14: Twist move: M pivots ¼ L to open stance & pulls W strongly towards him so she steps between M’s legs on 3. M lowers into a straddle stance around 5, taking W with him & rotating their upper torsos to L. I think the rotate out & stand about 7.

Week 4:

oXB:2WLT:RE  to closed – lead turn a little more strongly than for oXB:WLT

Another move: start oXB, but M just keeps stepping back, so oXB is never led.

oXB:WLT:MLT:RE – lead oXB:RE , then M steps back on 5, forward on 6, forward L on 7, then completes L turn to step towards W on 1

Modified sweetheart
1: XB:WLT:R-L to sweetheart wrap
2: Sweetheart turn to L, then ½ WRT to face M by 3, then oXB:WLT:R-L:RE to closed

Hammerlock Pattern
1: oXB:WLT:R-L,L-R holding L-R low for W’s LT hammerlock
2: XB:2WRT to W’s RT hammerlock
3: XB:WLT to open

Pattern
1: oXB:WLT:R-L,L-R
2: XB:2WRT
3: oXB:WLT:R-L,L-R
